From first scoping call to findings pack
A predictable sequence designed for UK finance teams preparing for internal review or external audit fieldwork.
Built around your reporting date
We do not drop a generic audit programme onto your ledger. Work starts with the streams that move material revenue, the contracts that define performance obligations, and the close deadline you cannot move.
The sequence below is the default cadence for a revenue recognition review. Evidence-pack and period-end engagements use the same checkpoints in a shorter window.
-
Scope the streams
Identify material revenue streams, frameworks applied (for example IFRS 15 or FRS 102 section equivalents), and judgement areas such as variable consideration or multi-element deals. Agree sample sizes and access to systems.
-
Gather contract evidence
Collect master agreements, statements of work, change orders, invoices, and delivery or acceptance records for selected items. Flag gaps before testing begins.
-
Test recognition decisions
Map each sample from promise to performance obligation to amount recognised. Check cut-off, deferrals, and whether practice matches the written policy.
-
Challenge unusual movements
Compare period movements and credit patterns against prior periods. Investigate spikes, plugs in deferred balances, and front-loaded billing without matching delivery evidence.
-
Deliver findings and handoff
Issue a findings memo with severity and remediation owners, plus a walkthrough pack for auditors or the audit committee. Schedule optional follow-up for the next close if needed.
